Types of Plants
Main Points to Remember
π There are different types of plants around us.
π The plants are different in their shape, size, habitat and life span.
π On the basis of flowers, the plants are of two types; non-flowering plants and flowering plants.
π On the basis of life span, plants are of three types. Plants growing in one season are called annual plants, surviving for two seasons or two years are called biennial plants and plants surviving for more than two years are called perennial plants.
π Plants that grow on land are called terrestrial plants and that grow in water are called aquatic plants.
π Some plants or vegetables grow in some specific season only. These plants are called seasonal plants.
π Now a days, off-seasonal plants are also grown in a special construction made by plastics called green house. Plants growing in summer season can be grown in winter by using the green house.

Advantages of Plants and Animals

π Animals and plants are very advantageous to us.
π We get foods, fibres and medicines from plants.
π Plants are useful to us as they give us timber, wood, tea, coffee, perfumes, rubber and gum also.
π We get food, fibres and leathers from animals.
π We also use animals for transportation and farming as well. Similarly, excreta of animals are used as manure and fuel.
